Happy Friday! I'm sick of the weather already and often times wonder why I live in Iowa. I am more of a warm weather person, but I think I stay here because of family ties! I really appreciate family this time of year and I am looking forward to spending some quality time with them over break.
I want to thank Richard Sleeth and his guys for fixing the water break this week. On Tuesday, I was working at my desk, when I looked down and say about an inch of water on the floor. It just kept coming and coming! At first, the construction guys thought it was from the snow that had piled outside the door as it swept around the building, so they shoveled that out. Needless to say the Shop Vacs were working like crazy and I moved quickly out of my office.
After about an hour, it was determined that a water main broke near the building. Immediately, the water was turned off and my biggest fear is that it wouldn't be fixed by the time the kids came to school the next day. With all of the snow days, to miss another day was really not a favorable option for anyone. The teachers have been very worried about making sure that they will get the curriculum taught by the end of the year.
The crew worked until about 3:30 in the morning fixing the leak. Whew! The positive out of the whole ordeal was that it gave me an opportunity to clean my office. I'm really glad that it was not in a classroom. I do appreciate the crew that came to help avoid what could have been a mess! Each week has a different twist to it, but that is what is fun about my job!
