Good Morning,
This has been another great week at Lakewood. As I write this, the 5th Graders are seeing the Lewis and Clark presentation at the Civic Center. This is another event sponsored by the Norwalk PTO! They also sponsored the transportation for Movie Nights. To be honest with you, I was disappointed by the movie, but it is always fun to spend time with your kids! The PTO funds are so valuable during these tough economic times to provide opportunities for our kids.
I know that times are very tough right now. Lakewood is working closely with the churches in the area to provide some financial assistance for families in need. Right now, we have some giftcards to Scott's, Fareway and MidAmerica for assistance! Call Jan Jensen, our counselor, if you would like some extra help! When we work together, your kids usually reap the benefits and tend to learn better :)
Your child should be close to finishing their Benchmark Test Two in the reading series. The Benchmark tests measure the skills that your child have become proficient in during the year. The teachers and I conference after each test to analyze the data and make instructional changes. I just tell you that I'm pushing the teachers as an instructional leader to keep the students engaged and use research based practices within their classrooms to push our kids.
There is no construction pictures this week, but I will update you with some pictures before Thanksgiving! Have a great weekend and give me a call (981-1850) if you have any questions.

I know my child was thrilled to attend the Civic Center. He went to bed early the night before and planned his outfit. It was hysterical. I am very greatful for the opportunities the hard work of the PTO is allowing for the kids. I believe the kids in Lakewood/Norwalk are some of the most incredible children I will ever know. So thanks for getting them these opportunities to grow and learn.
